Welcome to Oak Creek
The unencumbered beauty in this natural setting is what the Oak Creek Subdivision is all
about. Oak Creek Drive was named after the abundance of Oak trees in the area and
Winding Creek Road was inspired by Morgan Creek which winds along and through the
south end of the development. Many residents, past and present, were drawn here
because of the open-air design, acre plus lot sizes and the surrounding natural beauty.

The History of Oak Creek
The subdivision currently identified as Oak Creek, located on Route 71 in Yorkville, Illinois, was established in 1987 by the owner of Property Concepts Inc., Angelo Kleronomos. Angelo is a resident of Kendall County and developer of numerous subdivisions and related businesses. Angelo’s vision for the 200 acre property which he purchased from the Verona Fathers, was to establish a unique subdivision, highlighting the beauty of the wooded property, respect existing wildlife, but maintain the county setting.
The Verona Fathers purchased the parcel of land in the early 1950’s . Daniel Comboni founded the Verona Fathers in 1867 and the Verona Sisters (now called the Comboni Missionaries Sisters) in 1872. The name for the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus; is a society of priests and lay brothers dedicated to missionary work.
During their tenure in Yorkville, the Verona Fathers established a facility where Jesuit Missionaries, preparing for foreign assignments, could reside and prepare mentally, spiritually, and physically for their challenging and important work.
While residing at the Verona Fathers facility, the Missionaries were able to enjoy the beautiful 200 acre property, Morgan Creek, and the Fox River. A two-track road located within the property, allowed access to the creek, wooded areas, hiking trails and an outdoor Alter where Mass and spiritual reflection occurred. The priests and brothers took full advantage of the beautiful setting and added to its natural beauty with the addition of ornamental trees, perennials, tulips, daffodils, bluebells, vegetable garden and their famous Strawberry Fields.
In the late spring/early summer during the 1960’s and 70’s, the Verona Fathers hosted an annual Strawberry Festival. Opened to the public, guests could participate in pick-your-own strawberries, play games, enjoy delicious food and spend a day in the country. One current resident of Oak Creek; has photo’s of himself at the age of three, picking strawberries during the festival. He and his family now reside on the exact plot of land where the strawberry field once existed.
By the fall of 1987, the former Verona Fathers property was renamed Oak Creek Bath and Tennis Club. The new subdivision was scheduled to open in mid 1988 with the first residents settling in by mid-September. Spring and summer of 1988 was a busy time in the new subdivision. Roads received their final layer of Asphalt, lots were selling, the residence once belonging to the Verona Fathers was converted into a clubhouse, the pool, tennis courts, and walking path; surrounding the retention area, were completed and ready to be enjoyed by future residents.
In order to maintain his vision and high standards for the unique and beautiful subdivision, Angelo Kleronomos and his wife Cindy created a list of building requirements, covenants, and by-laws. New homes had to meet a square footage requirement, use all natural building materials, and to further protect the natural wildlife and country setting, no curbs, sidewalks, streetlights or fencing was installed.
Residents of Oak Creek along with their friends and families, continue to enjoy our country setting. The Pool and Clubhouse provide a venue for social gatherings, private parties, weddings and other celebrations. Since the opening in 1988, a spacious Playground was built, Pickle Ball lines were added to the tennis courts, and additional improvements have been made to the clubhouse, walking path and pond retention area. Many of the current residents have resided in the Oak Creek subdivision for over thirty years. The relaxed setting provides a beautiful and safe environment to raise a family and enjoy the natural beauty that highlights this unique subdivision.
